Reviews about Durmientes

Reviews about Durmientes
“Double celebration for the actress, dramaturg and director from Córdoba Florencia Bergallo, who accomplishes with her simple anecdote-though of overwhelming complexity- to strike the Buenos Aires audience.” (Crítica BA VOICE)
“Florencia Bergallo creates a stunning theatrical density because she goes deep in the job of exposing the darkness and the light of her characters in the bodies of the actors. Victoria Roland, Lola Lagos and Javier Pedersoli embrace the audience with their carnal and committed performances, and never let them go until the play ends. From every point of view, the beautiful play Durmientes is endearing.” (Gabriel Peralta- Crítica teatral)
“A play written and directed by Florencia Bergallo, Durmientes develops a key moment in the story of three youngsters who converge in the same spot. It is a kind of metaphor of the will to find an alternative way to socialize in a world of conventions and established behaviours.”(Entrevista de Cecilia Hopkins. Diario Página 12)

What the director thinks:

“Durmientes is the product of the shared interest between me and the actors to create very different characters among each other, who could bear a social body, an emotional body and an ideological speech with all its contradictions.
The purpose of writing the play meant to me the possibility to take the actor´s proposals on stage to much more extreme situations where the thoughts, the bodies and the words shared the same intensity. As a dramaturg, I behaved more like an actress connected with the words from the point of view of an emotional body; the characters -with no restrain at all- declare what they feel in an attempt to search for a particular voice or resisting the alienation of their own bodies. The conflicts that arouse between characters are a soup opera cliché that they manage to trascend by themselves in the attempt to defend their singularity and will to be together”.
